Hi Gibs!
I know this may be a long shot for you to answer, but I decided to give it a try, especially since you have answers to so many varied questions and problems users have posed.
I drive a 99 Honda Civic SiR. Recently (shortly after bringing it for a PMS round), I have noticed a dull rattling noise at the right rear end of my car. It usually surfaces as I am driving over slightly rough or uneven surfaces at a moderate speed. It doesn't sound or feel like a busted shock, bushing, or even suspension element, as it sounds semi-muffled, and sounds nothing like the busted shocks and suspension I once had on a 93 Nissan Sentra. At the same time, the ride quality hasn't seem to have suffered from the time it surfaced. The odd thing is that it doesn't seem to surface when I hit real bumps or road craters, whether at moderate or really slow speeds. If I accidentally hit bumps at moderate speeds, what I do sometimes hear is a low hollow sound, almost like an exhaust pipe hitting a speed hump, but nothing sharp and harsh, like one would expect from busted shocks or bushings, even.
Initially, I thought it was a loose/mislaid panel, board, or toolkit in my trunk, but I have moved everything around and the sound hasn't disappeared. Right now, it is more irritating than performance hampering. I am wary, however, that it may be a sign of a potentially bigger problem coming on.
I am hoping that it is merely a loose panel or even a loose element somewhere, but I would appreciate your advice, if you could venture a guess.
Thanks for your help.

Dear Paolo,
Rattles can be traced by bringing it up a hydraulic lifter. But you'll have to do it trial and error.
