Do I need coolant?

Hi, I have a B16A engine installed in my car, is it necessary to put coolant in my radiator? Other mechanics suggest not to put coolant because of its chemical substances.

Yes, you will need to add a recommended 50/50 solution of coolant and water to your radiator to help it cool. Not just because it is hot here, because if you read the label it says coolant/antifreeze.

Last time I heard, mechanics weren't chemists. So they really can't tell if coolant actually damages the engine. As for the chemical composition of coolant, it is only ethylene glycol. If it is wrong to put coolant, then all new cars which come from the manufacturing plant should not have coolant. But it does have coolant, because it is not harmful to engine.
