Blacked-out Harley-Davidson Roadster to hit US dealerships in June
The Sportster line of Harley-Davidson motorcycles gets a new model after the company recently revealed the Roadster. With a short frame, 'garage-built'-look and an emphasis on lightness and sportiness, the Roadster is set to attract the younger and urban crowd of bikers.
It gets blacked-out exterior trim on the mirrors, belt guard and headlight. Also sporting a hint of black hue are the air cleaner, exhaust shields and the engine itself. It has 'slammed' handlebars which gives off a performance look and feel, along with an aggressive riding position according to Harley-Davidson. It also has a new center-mounted gauge which has a speedometer and tachometer.Curb weight comes in at 249 kg.
The rear ends has a 'Bobber' style finish with the short cut fender. It also has a side-mount license plate that allows for a clean look. Providing more flair, on the other hand, are the off-set aluminum wheels. The 5-spoke wheels measure 19-inches at the front while the rear comes in at 18-inches.
Providing the necessary grunt is an air-cooled 1202cc Evolution V-twin motor that has a compression ratio of 10:01. It produces 103 Nm of torque at 3,750 rpm and benefits from the company's electronic sequential port fuel injection (ESPFI).
Delivering better handling comes courtesy of a new rear suspension and 43mm front forks. Stopping power is provided by twin front disc brakes and a single rear disc brake. Anti-lock brakes and immobilizer are optional extras.
Available colors for the Harley-Davidson Roadster include: Velocity Red Sunglo, Billet Silver with Vivid Black, Black Denim and Vivid Black.
The 2016 Harley-Davidson Roadster will arrive in US dealerships by June.
