2015 Isuzu mu-X

After a decade with the Alterra, Isuzu's latest contender in the PPV segment comes in the form of the mu-X. With generous interior space, roguish looks and potent turbo diesels, the mu-X quickly rose through sales and is now a common sight on Philippine roads. Like the D-Max from which it is based on, it is available in either 4x2 or 4x4 spec. Engine options carry over as well from the D-Max pickup.
Late last year, Isuzu added a new engine in the mu-X in the form of the 3.0 liter turbodiesel. Will the extra 500ccs boost its appeal even more? We take one out for a spin.

With that in mind, auto manufacturers are proudly pitting their respective challengers for the competitive PPV SUV segment. Joining the competition is the Isuzu mu-X, which made its Philippine debut last year.

Base models of any mass market automobile tend to be barebones units; variants that -in the interest of making the car more affordable- feel very, very basic. Delete this feature, omit that bit of chrome or body-color, cheapen the seat fabrics and more, all for the sake of lowering the price of admission.
With the 2014 Isuzu Alter -uh- mu-X, the “barebones” formula seems to work like a charm.
