Muller and Lopez emerged victorious

After Rounds 9 & 10 of the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) held in Salzburg, Austria, Citroen is still ahead of the pack in terms of points.

Citroen cars took two wins on the fast and tricky Salzburging with the victory of Yvan Muller in Race 1 and Jose Maria Lopez in Race 2.

In Race 1, Yvan Muller managed to finish ahead of Chevrolet’s Tom Coronel. Muller’s teammate, Lopez, finished in third while Loeb came in at fourth.

Come Race 2, Muller had to retire after the accident at the start, which also eliminated the LADA cars of Huff and Thompson.

Honda wasn’t able to capitalize the advantage of having four cars in the first two rows even though Tarquini led most of the race. Citroen’s Lopez was able to steal the lead from Tarquini and finished in pole position.

However, the Japanese automaker still placed three cars in the top four with Tarquini in second, Monteiro in third and Michelisz in fourth. Loeb could not do better than 7th.

The 2014 FIA WTCC will resume at the Moscow Raceway on June 8 for rounds 11 and 12.
