Honda has launched its new entry to the 2010 Super GT Series to replace its legendary NSX which has competed in the series for over a decade. The name HSV, which stands for Honda Sports Velocity, enthusiasts are hoping it will be the precedent for a production version which will fill the void left by the NSX when the model stopped production 2005.

The HSV-010 GT will be powered by a new HR10EG 3.4-liter DOHC V8 24-valve naturally aspirated engine producing an electronically limited 500ps (Super GT GT500 regulations limit power to 500ps) and 392Nm of torque. The new engine is also front mounted unlike the mid-engine setup of the NSX.

The 2010 Super GT Series kicks off in two months time on March 20.
