Nine time WRC winner Sebastien Loeb to take the 208 T16 up Pikes Peak

Peugeot has decided to enter the 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb this year that's happening on the 30th of June at Colorado Springs, USA. The French automaker will be returning to compete in the Race to the Clouds using its 208 T16 Pikes Peak race car.

Nine-time World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb will be piloting the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak up the course and will be competing under the ‘Unlimited’ class.

Peugeot has been well known in its participation in previous Pikes Peak Hill Climb events especially during the legendary victory of  Ari Vatanen's in 1988 using the Peugeot 405 T16 Pikes Peak back when it was still unpaved.

This year though, Peugeot has to tackle the asphalt paved Pikes peak course that's still as challenging as it used to be. The entire course has a total distance of 20 kilometers and is comprised of 156 turns. Its altitude also varies from 2,8000 meters to 4,300 meters.

“Pikes Peak is a one-off outing which has the potential to generate extensive media coverage and which meets the constraints of the current context. It is a legendary race that has inspired all the brand’s teams who have mobilised behind the project which targets outright victory. It is also a tough, exceptional challenge which leaves no room for error. In other words, it’s exactly the sort of challenge that Peugeot adores.” answers Maxime Picat, Director General Automobiles Peugeot, when asked why they chose to enter Pikes Peak Hill Climb.

Peugeot will be revealing the actual race car and its technical specification next month.
