Cup will witness the debut of the ‘Type 991’ 911 GT3 Cup race car

Porsche Carrera Cup GB competitors will be joining the Carrera Cup France as the support race for next year’s Le Mans 24 Hours happening on June 10-13, 2014. Both cups will witness the debut of the new ‘Type 991’ 911 GT3 Cup race car with a 466 PS rear engine.

The invitation extends to drivers from the GT3 Cup Challenge GB where cars will run on the French racetrack in the 24 Heures du Mans. Porsche has already claimed 16 wins in this endurance race. By 2014, Porsche will be facing new challenges as it competes in the LMP1 category with their new Porsche LMP1.

“This is an incredible opportunity for drivers in both the Carrera Cup GB and the GT3 Cup Challenge to be involved in one of the biggest events in Porsche motor sport history. It is a massive boost for both Championships as we move towards the new model for the Carrera Cup in 2014. The response from teams and drivers has already been extremely positive,” said Porsche Cars GB Motorsport manager Marion Barnaby.
