Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) has released the official images of the GT86 CS-R3 rally car which will make its competition debut at Rally Niedersachsen on July 4, the first round of the new HJS TMG CS-R3 Trophy.
As previously reported, the rear wheel drive GT86 CS-R3 rally car was developed by TMG and marks the automaker's rallying roots during the 1980s with the Celica TA64 twin-cam turbocharged vehicle.
TMG Principal Engineer Customer Motorsport Nico Ehlert says the GT86 CS-R3 rally car has undergone numerous testing and development program for the past years.
“This is a significant milestone in the GT86 CS-R3 story which brings us one step closer to the car’s competitive debut. We have put a huge amount of effort into our testing and development program in order to deliver a fast, reliable and spectacular car for drivers and fans alike,” Ehlert said.
The rally car is powered by a 2.0-liter boxer engine that delivers 241 PS and 230 Nm of torque. It is mated to a six-speed sequential transmission that comes with an HJS racing exhaust, racing clutch with lightweight flywheel and hydraulic power steering.
On the other hand, Toyota says the first set of the GT86 CS-R3 will be delivered to customers in May.
