if your pickup is a 4x2, a streetrod/bling setup is okay. but if it's a 4x4, off-road warrior is the way to go!  Thumbs up

it's a matter of preference and taste really of the owner. you just can't say that old pickups are only suited for a 4x4 setup, seen older hilux low-riders fitting the bill of a bling'd out setup and it's just plain gorgeous.

as for me, i go for the semi-offroad type on a modern hilux, 32x10.5R18 setup w/ BSA rims, 2" suspension lift and awhole bunch of engine, tranny and differential modifications.

why i choose it, because of practicality (usable mods on which suited for our roads in the metro) and atleast i'm not worried on smashing my mags or having backaches when tackling pot-holes in the street running at high-speeds.

overall, i'd go for the off-road look. big tires, off-road mags, snorkel, etc.
But if you'll use your pickup for streets of manila, pwede pa ang bling but limited lang.

for me, if you like to go on places with bad, rough or no roads at all, and your truck is a 4x4, better go with the offroad look. but i you intend to use it in the city, then go for a very simple look. unless you're some kind of a rap star or gangsta who likes diamonds on you teeth, then go for the bling bling. honestly i dont like blings on a car. it feels like you just wanna scream for some attention. and its more likely to be a target on the preying eyes of your friendly neighborhood car thief.

well that's just my opinion. but its really up to you on what you wanna do with your ride. some say that your car is a reflection of your personality. so go for absolutely what you like. be it offroad or bling doesnt matter as long your happy with your ride.

so true.. i just feel sorry for people running on 22"s when i see them traversing roads that doesn't look one.. i see them zigzagging and finding a flat surface to prevent their "uber" rims getting bengkong..

i just whistle away going on a straight line feeling nothing.. Tongue

it's ok to blingerize your ride but ofcourse you have to be practical and find a suited setup that matches bling with performance.

just my 2 cents

hi bros im new here..
i drive a b2200 pickup.. mas prefer ko ung 4x4 warrior look pero closer to bling..kasi since di naman 4x4 truck ko and i dont go to some forest..di rin practical mga snorkel, some ARBs or winch..siguro pwede na ung mga 16" rims tapos lift para standard 4x4 height..ung mga oem height ng 4x4 na hilux..then mga 265/70r16 on 16s na rota grids tapos may sticker ng volk hehhe...or mga 20's para medyo makapal pa rin ung goma..

Neither offroad or streetrod bling. But i'd just like to share. Wave

Trying to be "HellaFlush" Evil 5

1997 Toyota Hi-lux 4x2 long bed.

Previous set-up

18x8.5 +38 (10mm spacers) Rota IK-F/Grid (Volk TE-37) in Sport Bronze (factory Rota color)

Borrowed my buddy's Rota SVN (Volk RE30)
F18x9 +20 / R18x10 -20 (40mm spacers)

Current set-up (sorry for the paint primer fail and the 14" fronts Cheesy)
18x8.5 +8 (40mm spacers) Rota IK-F/Grid in Taffeta White (newly painted)

I don't really use it for carrying things and going off-road, the bed is mostly used for hanging-out in Cheers and i'm not into chrome dub dueces and chrome accesories. If i had a 4x4 1994-1997 Hi-lux though i'd lift it and slap on 16's with AT tires.

The real question is.. when you turn your car on, does it return the favor?

:newbie:on boxy 4x4 pickups like the 1st & 2nd gen strada, the solid-axled and IFS non-D4D hilux, isuzu fuego and ford rangers (even the latest model) , i'd prefer the off-road warrior look. those 31"-33" MT tires, body lift, ARB bumpers and safari snorkels really can catch my eye.

but on the newer generations of the above mentioned (except the ranger and dmax which still has boxy shapes), and 4x2 pick-ups, i'd prefer the street rod bling. and besides, if you dress up a pick-up as an offroad warrior, it must perform like an offroad warrior, capable of crossing very muddy and potholed roads.

K25 series fan here too. No BS truck. Just a good solid workhorse that can do anything and go anywhere in lots of comfort. 6.5L of diesel goodness:

OT: does this truck share the same "Optimizer" 6.5L V8 diesel engine as the Hummer H1 and the military Humvee?

anyway, I think "street-rod" pickup trucks won't last long in Philippine roads!  Evil 5  so, off-road warrior is the way to go!  Thumbs up

Of course off-road. If I prefer bling, I'll just buy a sedan, or a crossover.   Cheer
