Let's find out.
For 2021, Toyota has given the Vios a brand new look upfront. Borrowing styling cues from the Corolla Altis, the B-segment fighter features new headlights with new LED daytime running lights, a bolder front grille, and a bigger lower air intake on the front bumper. But perhaps serving as the most noticeable change on the Vios are the new foglights and bezels which are a direct nod to the more upscale Corolla Altis. Toyota has also made foglights standard on the G, E, and XLE grades.
15-inch alloys will be standard on the Vios E and XLE models, while steel wheels with full cap will be standard on entry grade models like the J and XE, and the Base will come with 14-inch steel wheels. Toyota Vios G models will still use 16-inch alloy wheels with a new design as well.
While the high-quality interior has been maintained, it still elevates the expectations of the market in terms of comfort, convenience, and connectivity, A digital climate control system is standard on the high-grade models while a powerful standard airconditioning system is fitted to the more affordable variants.
A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system provides in-car entertainment, and it supports AM/FM, USB, Bluetooth, Aux, as well as Weblink connectivity for iOS and Android smartphones. Weblink allows users to mirrors a large variety of smartphone apps onto the touchscreen for ease of use. Yes, that's right; you can seamlessly connect to the audio system.
Aside from the touchscreen-based system, other models will come with a 2-DIN head unit that comes with USB, Aux, and Bluetooth connectivity.
There will be a lot of variants and colors to choose from with 2021 Vios, but what sets it apart is the long list of standard safety equipment across the range. As before, all models will come with anti-lock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, vehicle stability control, as well as hill-start assist.
All Vios variants will have three airbags as standard: one for the driver, one for the front passenger, and even a knee airbag for the driver. The top-of-the-line 1.5 G models add another four airbags with dual curtain airbags as well as side airbags for even better safety and even comes with a rear camera for easy and secure parking.
Under the hood, the Vios will continue to be powered by a duo of superior and reliable Dual VVT-i engines in 1.3-liter or 1.5-liter displacements.
The 1.3-liter produces 99 PS at 6000 rpm along with 123 Nm of torque and is intended for enhanced efficiency in all kinds of driving conditions, while the 1.5-liter model makes 107 PS at 6000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm for enhanced driving performance all around. As before, customers can opt for a 5-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission with a seven-speed manual mode.
