Hyundai ends the year positively, posting a total of 20,297 units sold in 2011 as against to the 20,172 units sold in 2010. This 1% full year growth, which defied total industry’s 3% drop in sales, was driven by sustained market interest in Hyundai brands across the passenger car segment. Buyers snatched game-changing new comers Accent and Elantra, and continued to discover the uniqueness of the Sonata. On top of that, sports category leader Genesis Coupe kicked in an extraordinary performance for Hyundai to cap the year on the positive side. Meanwhile global supply of the Grand Starex and the Tucson continue to fall short due to the strong demand on the LCV segment.
