Heading up north via SCTEX or planning a trip to Metro Manila or Subic today? You might want to plan out your travel times and routes as the NLEX Corporation will be closing a 1-km section of SCTEX in Bamban, Tarlac.
On July 17 and July 18, 2019, the NLEX Corporation will be closing all northbound and southbound lanes near SCTEX PTT and SCTEX Seaoil gas stations. This is to give way to the girder installation for the new Bamban Interchange.
Starting today, both northbound and southbound directions will be closed to traffic from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM. Meanwhile, on July 18, all of the lanes will not be accessible to motorists from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
Motorists will be guided to take the access road on either side while the girder installation is taking place. Directional signs will be put up in strategic areas in order for motorists to see.
The setting up of the girders for the new Bamban Interchange is part of the NLEX Corporation's plan of putting up 20 additional toll lanes along SCTEX in order to hasten toll transactions. The soon-to-open interchange will have a total of three entry and exit lanes in both directions and will become the direct connection to New Clark City, the main venue for this year's Southeast Asian Games.
Aside from the new interchange in Bamban, the NLEX Corporation also plans on transforming the San Miguel (Luisita) section of SCTEX into a full interchange for faster travel time and toll payments. In addition, the company is also set to build additional toll lanes in the following exits: Clark North, Clark South, as well as Tarlac.
