One of the more exciting new concepts at the 2011 New York International Auto Show belongs to the Toyota group, as Scion, the youthful brand of Toyota, revealed the FR-S, a new concept car derived from the FT-86.

The compact rear wheel drive sports coupe is in line with Akio Toyoda's vision to put back some excitement into the Toyota family; something that has been lacking in the brand for the last decade or so. The new Scion FR-S signals the continuation of the vision, with the production model likely to come with a boxer engine, rear wheel drive, direct injection and a variety of 6-speed transmissions.

There is no word yet as to when the production model of the FR-S and other FT-86 derivatives may come, but rest assured, we will bring then to you as soon as we get news of them.
