The 2012 New York Auto Show will have more than just wheels on the show, but wings as well.

A Massachusetts-based company, Terrafugia will be taking the wraps off of the Transition; half car, half airplane.

The Transition is envisioned as a street-legal airplane, and a production prototype just completed its first flight last month. Currently, Transition is conducting drive and conversion testing, and will be undergoing crash testing soon... the automotive kind.

The Transition can seat 2 people and is powered by a 100 horsepower Rotax 912ULS engine and is targeted to return 14.9 km/l (35 mpg) on the road and 5 gallons per hour while cruising in the air.

The Transition Prototype will be on display at New York, and already they have received many reservations from customers.
