2013 Kia Carens makes Philippine debut

Latest compact MPV from Kia

Kia Philippines has officially revealed the all-new 2013 Kia Carens today. Even before its local launch, the design of Kia’s latest MPV already won several prestigious awards. Aimed for the modern families, Kia Philippines expects that the Kia Carens will attract more Pinoys to the Kia brand.

“The All-New Carens takes Kia back into one of the most important and competitive sectors of the global market with a strong contender for class-honors.” comments Thomas Oh, Kia’s Executive Vice President & COO of the International Business Division. “This model will have great appeal to families with an active lifestyle who don‘t want to compromise between style and practicality.  It is destined to attract many new customers to our showrooms and introduce them to the benefits of Kia ownership,” adds Mr. Oh.

Although a bit more compact than the previous generation model (20mm shorter, 15mm narrower and 40mm lower), the 2013 Kia Carens MPV offers a more spacious cabin as a result of its 50mm longer wheelbase.

The seven-seater MPV is powered by a 136 PS 1.7-liter diesel powerplant that’s mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The new Carens will be available in either the LX(MT/AT) or EX(A/T) trim and will both be fitted with LED positioning lights, rear cooling air vents, six-speaker audio system. The EX trim meanwhile will get additional features such as the cruise control, leather wrapped seats, fully-automatic air-conditioning system, 10-way powered driver seat, 4.3-inch TFT LCD infotainment system, a Supervision instrument cluster with 4.2-inch TFT LCD screen and a three-part tilt and slide panoramic glass sunroof as standard.

The Carens EX model comes with automatic climate control air-conditioning, cruise control, 10-way powered driver’s seat, a 4.3-inch TFT LCD screen audio system, a Supervision instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch TFT LCD screen and high-definition graphics.

New to the Kia Carens are the Coupled Torsion Beam Axle (CTBA) rear suspension system that replaces the conventional multi-link system as well as the brand’s new Flex Steer System that offers three different steering weights (normal, sport, and comfort) to match the driver’s need.
