The new city has more spacious cabin and larger rear compartment
The 2014 Honda City made its debut in Thailand following the global reveal in India late 2013. The 4th generation City was a developed under the 'Advance Cool Stunner' concept according to the Japanese automaker which aims to give a "premium expression with a spacious cabin."
The new Honda City is based on the 'Exciting H Design' concept where the focus of design leans toward the driver and passengers. The interior is designed with a spacious cabin along with a larger rear compartment. The exterior design features sleek body lines accented by a platinum front grille that matches with the front and rear lights; this is finished off by a shark-fin roof antenna for a 'sporty finish'.
Under the hood is a re-tuned 1.5-liter SOHC i-VTEC producing 119 PS at 6,000 rpm and 146 Nm at 4,700 rpm. The engine features an 'Econ' mode as part of its 'Earth Dreams' efficient powertrain solution. This will be mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a new 7-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT) with 'shifting control of corning gravity' and 'G Design Shift’. Only one engine option will be offered to the Thai market, which will be E85 compatible.
Honda is providing the new City with a full range of standard safety solutions which includes an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS). This also includes DUAL SRS, i-Side Airbags, and Side Curtain Airbags. Adding to the list is the Multi-angle Rearview Camera with three levels of adjustment.
The Thai release also includes a 7-inch Advanced Touch Screen that supports Smartphone interface, automatic climate control, push start ignition with smart key system, and a multi-function steering wheel for cruise control, audio control, and handsfree phone operation; with paddle shifters (CVT models).
Honda Cars Philippines has yet to confirm the release date of the City, but our sources have been pointing to the end of Q2.
