Honda Thailand has revealed the 2014 Jazz 5-door hatchback targeted at GEN ME or modern markets who live the digital lifestyle. Incidentally, the reveal was done on the night of the declaration of a cout d'etat by the Thai military to end months of demonstration by opposing political groups.
Designers have significantly worked on the styling of the Honda Jazz with a sporty style, from the agressive front headlights to the rear LED taillights, with a spacious interior and comfortable cabin.
As with the recently revealed 2014 Honda City, the all-new Honda Jazz is powered exclusively by a 120 PS, 146 Nm 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine mated to either an Earth Dreams 7-speed CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) or 5-speed manual gearbox. An Eco Assist system is also standard to help achieve better fuel economy via eco coaching when the ECON mode is enabled.
It is equipped with similar tech found in the 2014 City like 7-inch advanced touchscreen audio with HDMI connectivity, voice control, 'Siri Eyes-Free Mode' (for iPhone 4S and later models), with HondaLink App connectivity. Touch panel climate control, digital fuel consumption display, push-start ignition system are also standard on higher-end variants.
The Thai release comes with a black color themed interior for all variants. It retains the popular ULT seat configuration which allows for variable rear seat configuration between utility, long or tall modes; and a newly added 'refresh mode' which allows front seats to be folded to connect with the rear seats to offer the 'ultimate relaxation'. For storage, it features nine cup holders, a mobile phone holder and tablet box.
For safety, it features G-Force Control (G-CON) body, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) in all variants. It also offers advanced safety with six airbags - Dual SRS Airbags, i-Side Airbags and Side Curtain Airbags.
Honda Thailand is offering six variants for the 2014 Jazz. Honda Cars Philippines offered a similar number of variants for the City and is likely to do the same with the upcoming 5-door hatchback. As previously reported, the 2014 Honda Jazz will debut in Q3 of this year.
