We can now definitely say for certain that the Isuzu MU-X has indeed arrived on Philippines shores. Reader Ding Arambulo sends us photos he took of the soon to debut 2015 Isuzu MU-X (in left-hand-drive) parked at the Batangas Port presumably undergoing customs clearing.
The long-awaited replacement for the aging Isuzu Alterra made its global debut in Thailand November of last year. It debuted with 3.0-liter and 2.5-liter 'Super Commonrail' VGS powerplants for the Thai market. But according to numerous sources, the Philippines will be getting the 2.5-liter 4JK1-TCX VGS engine capable of 136 PS and 320 Nm mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed automatic. The more powerful 177 PS 3.0-liter 4JJ1-TCX will not be available as with the D-Max pickup due to concerns about Philippine fuel quality. Pricing strategy is also said to be very aggressive.
The 2015 Isuzu MU-X will make its debut early September with the formal public unveiling made at the 2014 Philippine International Motor Show later in the same month.
