The Nissan Terrano officially made its unveiling at a ‘blockbuster’ event in Mumbai. Nissan India first announced the revival of the Terrano nameplate and revealed the design sketch in June. Based on the positive reaction, it was followed up by a reveal of rear design sketch a month after.
Despite being based on the Dacia Duster, the Terrano is not simple rebadge as the Japanese carmaker has done a complete overhaul at their design center in Japan. Product development for the new model was done in India according to Nissan India president Kenichiro Yomura. The exterior styling is consistent with Nissan’s design language for its Pathfinder and Patrol SUVs. The presence of chrome accents and stylish 16-inch wheels give the Terrano a more dignified and premium feel. The interior also received a few tweaks to infuse more Nissan design cues.
Engine options have not yet been revealed but based on the launch vehicles and press photos, the Terrano is expected to be powered by a dCi (CRDI) engine. Either an 85 PS 1.5-liter or a 110 PS 1.5-liter similarly found in the Duster.
The Nissan Terrano is set to go against the Ford EcoSport and the Dacia Duster for the Indian market. Nissan to reveal its rollout to other car markets.
