Porsche Phillipines officially debuted the 2014 Macan at the PGA Cars Showroom in Greenhills with exclusive clients and guests. Personally unveiling the new Macan were Porsche Philippines Managing Director Roberto Coyiuto III and German Ambassador Thomas Ossowski.

Derived from the Indonesian word for tiger, the Macan is the first Porsche model to break into the compact SUV segment. Porsche says it combines the usual characteristics of the brand with "maximum acceleration and breaking values, vast engine power, extreme agility and optimum steering precision."

The German automaker says the design elements of the 2014 Macan were taken from their other sports cars to give the SUV sporty elegance and powerful dynamics. The wraparound bonnet and gently sloping roof line highlights its sporty look.

"The Macan without doubt stands for the S in SUV. It is the exclusive super sports car in its segment. It combines the driving qualities of a Porsche sports car with all the advantages of a compact SUV's daily usability. This unique combination opens a new opportunity to enter the exclusive world of Porsche," said Porsche Philippines Managing Director Roberto Coyiuto III.

The Porsche Macan S is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine that delivers 345 PS. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 254 km/h. It is mated to a seven-speed double-clutch transmission.  Porsche says the fuel consumption of the Macan S are between 3.0 and 8.7 liters/100 km.

On the other hand, the Macan Turbo is equiiped with a 3.6-liter V6 biturbo engine that generates 406 PS. It can go from o to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 266 km/h. It delivers fuel consumption figures of between 9.2 and 8.9 liters/100 km. Like the S variant, it is also mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

All Macan models feature an active all-wheel drive with an electronic controlled, map-controlled multi-plate clutch, Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), multifunction sport steering wheel with shift paddlers, large wheels, high-performance audio system and an electrically operated tailgate.
