Toyota Japan has revealed that it will revive the Harrier nameplate as it showed exterior photos on their website. The Japanese automaker has also stated on its microsite that the new SUV will be making a 2013 winter debut.
Based on Toyota's released photos, the Harrier takes styling hints from the 2013 Lexus RX. Both the Harrier and RX share the same body. However, differences are more prominent in other cosmetic aspects. Its headlights are stretched further into the fender while fog lamps are positioned much lower in the bumper. The taillights resembles a slimmer version of the Toyota Rav4’s housed in clear glass. Lastly, the grille is wider and looks more aggressive.
The front fender displays a 'HYBRID' badge so it can be assumed that it will be powered by the 3.5 liter V6 hybrid engine the current RX450 is equipped with. As with previous generations, it is possible that the new Toyota SUV will be also be a preview of the next generation Lexus RX.
Toyota has only released exterior photos and details will be revealed at a later date.
