The Chevrolet website has inadvertently leaked out performance figures for the 2015 Corvette Z06 a few days ago. Chevrolet has been keeping their Corvette Z06 under wraps save for a teaser image released in December to confirm its debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This announcement is particularly timely as the C7 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray made its debut at last year’s Detroit Motor Show.
A few days ago, a curious Jalopnik reader Googled the words ‘2015 Corvette z06 supercar reveal’ and stumbled upon the power and torque figures of the upcoming performance version of the C7 Corvette. Although it is still unofficial, the site description mentioned that the 2015 Z06 will have 629 PS (620 hp) and 881 Nm of torque. The standard LT1 6.2-liter V8 produces 466 PS (460 hp) and 630 Nm of torque with the performance exhaust option.
The significant difference leads us to believe that the Z06 will be supercharged. The engine will allegedly be called LT4 as claimed by American Velocity Performance on their Instagram last month a photo showing the crate engine.
We’ll find out if the rumors are true in a few days. The reveal will be streamed online through a special webpage on the Chevrolet website on January 13 at 9:30 AM Eastern Time (10:30 PM Philippine time).
