Ford has just revealed the 2015 Edge that is redesigned and reengineered from the ground up. The automaker says the 2015 Edge is loaded with more technology, has higher levels of craftsmanship and improved vehicle dynamics.

Based on Ford’s mid-size vehicle platform, the 2015 Edge is redesigned with a stronger and more athletic shape. The front fascia of the vehicle is fitted with a fierce-looking headlamps along with a honeycombed shaped air intake and fog lamps. The hood of the 2015 Edge is incorporated with lines, which adds to its strong appearance.

The taillamps of the vehicle extends and meets in the middle where the Ford logo is placed. The rear bumper is infused with two chrome exhaust tips. It also has a rear spoiler that is infused in the vehicle’s trunk.

The vehicle’s new body structure and redesigned front and rear suspension contribute to the improved driving dynamics of the 2015 Edge. Ford says the new body structure and suspension of the vehicle is developed to better isolate road imperfection and absorb noise without compromising handling.

The 2015 Edge will also be the first Ford product to feature the company’s adaptive steering technology.

Ford says, the adaptive steering technology makes the vehicle more agile and easier to turn when it is at lower speed such as pulling into a parking space or taking tight quarters. On the other hand, the system optimizes steering response at highway speeds, making the vehicle to react more smoothly and precisely to driver input.

Aside from the adaptive steering, the 2015 Edge will also have an active park assist, side parking sensors, a front camera with washer, adaptive cruise control, auto start-stop, blind spot information system, among others.

The interior of the 2015 Edge is larger and more spacious. The dashboard and center console is designed to look like one thin, streamlined piece. At the center, it is infused with an 8-inch LCD touch screen.

It also has a panoramic vista roof that measures 47.7-inches front to back. Legroom in the first and second row has increased by 1.9-inches and 1.0-inch respectively. The headroom increases by 1.0-inch while the cargo capacity measures at 39.2 cubic feet. With the second row folded, cargo space increases to 73.4 cubic feet.

The 2015 Edge is powered by three engine options namely a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that delivers 248 PS with 366 Nm of torque, a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6 EcoBoost engine that generates 304 PS and a 3.5-liter V6 engine All will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.


2015 Ford Edge could be offered in Asia

According to an insider in Ford's development team the next generation Edge could be offered in the Asia Pacific region sometime after its rollout in its main market: the United States. 

Speaking exclusively to, the contact states that the Edge will be one of two vehicles to replace the soon-to-be-discontinued Ford Territory mainly sold in Australia and RHD ASEAN markets.

The other vehicle to replace the positioning of the Territory will be the body-on-frame 2015 Ford Everest while the 2015 Ford Edge crossover will complement it.
