The 2015 Sorento is constructed from Advanced High Strength Steel that is 10% lighter than normal steel yet provides more rigidity. Moreover, it has a tensile strength of 60kg. The body dimensions of the car measure at 4,780mm in length, 1,890mm in width and 1,685mm in height. The 95mm increase in body length now gives the 2015 Sorento a wheelbase of 2,780mm, 80mm more than the predecessor.
The front end features a wide chrome grill with a 3-dimensional diamond pattern. It is accentuated by a sweptback headlight design with dual projector lamps and trapezoidal foglamps. A tailgate-mounted spoiler decorates the rear while the taillight design is reminiscent of the current Carens model.
Inside, a 3-spoke steering wheel is used and is integrated with infotainment controls. Currently, the interior seats can be finished in either brown or black along with wood grain and chrome accents. The seats have a 4:2:4 split folding function for easy storage and for added convenience.
The tailgate can be opened automatically while the 2nd row seats can be folded via a lever function located at the rear section of the car. Additional interior options include heated/cooled seats, a JBL audio system, a GPS ready infotainment system and a panoramic sunroof.
Other standard features of the car include a rear-view camera that displays the distance and can even provide a 360-degree view around the car and Kia's Idle Stop and Go which shuts off the engine should the car be in a stationery position.
Two diesel engines are currently being offered for the 2015 Sorento in South Korea. First is a 2.0-liter inline four that produces 186 PS and 402 Nm of torque while the second engine is a 2.2-liter inline four that cranks out 202 PS and 441 Nm of torque.
