Mazda has announced that the 2015 Mazda MX-5 will be unveiled simultaneously in three different global locations Japan, United States of America and Europe on Sept. 4, 2014.
On the same date, the automaker will also hold the Mazda Roadster Thanks Day in Japan at Maihama Amphitheater in Urayasu city, Chiba. Mazda says the event is intended to express their gratitude to all the people who supported the MX-5 over the past 25 years.
Aside from the scheduled unveiling of the 2015 MX-5, Mazda has not given further details regarding the vehicle. But during the 2014 New York Auto Show last April, Mazda has confirmed that the 2015 MX-5 will be underpinned by a new SkyActiv-1 chassis.
Mazda says the SkyActiv-1 chassis is stronger and 100 kg lighter than the previous model's frame. Furthermore, the automaker the new frame would "bring the engine closer to the vehicle's center, a center of gravity which itself is lower than that of any previous generation."
The teaser video below has also hinted that the upcoming MX-5 will be powered by a turbocharged engine based on the blowoff valve relief sound.
