Mazda has released a teaser image of the next-generation MX-5 set to make its world debut on September 4, 2014 in three locations; Japan, United States of America, and Europe. The teaser shows a veiled rear-quarter shot of the new roadster showing Kodo Design cues and muscular arches.
But the Japanese automaker has also set up an event on their official Facebook page that is set to happen on September 3, 2014. The said event will be a live stream unveiling of the new MX-5 at a secret location, which will be festooned with a live concert along with special guests. No further details have been issued except to check back on the event page from time to time to get the details of how and when to tune in to the event.
In retrospect, the upcoming 2015 MX-5 will utilize a Skyactiv-1 chassis that reduces the weight of the chassis by 100kg and still provide rigidity. The chassis will also make the new engine sit near the center of the car, providing better weight distribution and a lower center of gravity.
