2015 Mini John Cooper Works unveiled


Powered by a 2.0L TwinPower turbo engine that delivers 234 PS

Mini has officially unveiled the 2015 Mini John Cooper Works, a vehicle that combines “authentic race feeling with the premium characteristics of the latest Mini generation.”

First previewed during the 2014 North American International Auto Show, the 2015 Mini John Cooper Works measures 3,874mm long, 1,727mm wide and 1,414mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,495mm. It has large air intakes, honeycomb-shaped grill, LED circular headlights with white direction indicators and wheel arch surround.


The rear of the vehicle features a John Cooper Works spoiler, a sports exhaust system with special tailpipes and distinctive tailights. The rear bumper of the 2015 Mini John Cooper Works also comes with a honeycomb-shaped grill as well as two reflector lights. The vehicle is finished off with an 17-inch John Cooper Works light alloy wheels. Moreover, the British automaker says a new 'Rebel Green' body paint finish is available for the said vehicle.

Inside, it is equipped with sports seats in 'Dinamica'/fabric with integrated headrests, central instrument display and three-spoke steering wheel with multifunction buttons. Mini says the vehicle also has an electrically operated glass roof, a dual-zone automatic air conditioning system, a navigation and infotainment system, as well as an optional head-up display.

The automaker claims that the vehicle is powered by the most powerful engine ever fitted in a production model of Mini. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder TwinPower turbo engine delivers 234 PS with 320 Nm of torque. Compared to the previous model, Mini says the output of the engine incresed by 10-percent as well as the maximum torque by 23-percent. The engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds (6.1 seconds for the automatic) with a top speed of 246 km/h.
