Silicon Valley Car Company Renovo Motors debuted the 2015 Renovo Coupe at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance last weekend

The electric supercar utilizes a modified CSX 9000 chassis provided by the Shelby American brand. Designed by Pete Brock (he helped design the 1963 Corvette Sting Ray), the chassis has modern supercar features but maintains the lines and shape of the original 1964 Le Mans winning car.

Inside the Coupe, classic needle type gauges that surround a modern circular digital display give the driver the necessary information while a drive selector regulates how much brake regeneration is need and can be altered in real time, a first for a production electric vehicle according to Renovo Motors.

The twin sequential axial-flux motors

Powering the Renovo Coupe is a pair of front mid mounted twin sequential axial-flux motors that are rated to produce more than 507 PS and has a hefty torque pull of 1354 Nm. It pulls the 1474 kg car to 100km/h in only 3.5 seconds and peak power is readily available in just 37 milliseconds, ten times faster than the blink of an eye according to the American automaker. Enabling the electric car's performance figures is made possible by a patent-pending battery technology that was developed in-house. Multiple separate battery enclosures give the car a performance-oriented weight distribution that also lessens chassis volume requirements. Battery recharging can be done as fast as 30 minutes with the use of a rapid charging system but can also be charged with level 2 charging systems that take more time.

"Renovo Motors sought to create an aspirational vehicle that demonstrates the performance, control, and excitement that is possible with EV technology. We have poured our passion and innovation into the Coupe in an effort to deliver a truly amazing driving experience, and we're honored to present the Production Prototype of our car at the Concours d'Elegance,” said Christopher Heiser, Renovo CEO.

Pre-orders for the 2015 Renovo Coupe have already begun during the Monterey Car Weekend and will begin a limited series production run on 2015. Introductory sales begins in California and will grow nationwide later this year.
