Volkswagen's well-known family car to arrive in the Philippines in October
Volkswagen PH is poised to take a chunk of the premium midsize sedan segment after Automobile Central Enterprise, Inc., the official distributor of Volkswagen cars in the country, recently announced that the 8th-generation Passat will soon be arriving in the Philippines.
Scheduled to have its local launch on October 21, 2015, the 2015 Passat was first premiered by the company back in July 2014 at their design center in Potsdam, Germany.
Volkswagen claimed that the 2015 Passat is relatively shorter than its predecessor in terms of length and height but has better interior space thanks to an increased width and wheelbase. In addition, it is 85kg lighter than the 7th-generation Passat, which makes for a 20% increase in fuel economy as claimed by Volkswagen.
Equipment and features that are available in international examples of the 2015 Passat include: optional LED lighting, 12.3-inch infotainment display, 360-degree Area View camera function, Park Assist, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert and City Emergency Braking as such.
The exact engine/s that will be available in the Philippines has not yet been revealed though in other markets, the 2015 Passat can be powered by a wide array of turbocharged inline-fours that are available in either gasoline or diesel.
