Bayan Automotive Industries Corporation (BAIC) continues to expand their vehicle lineup in the country after recently unveiling the M20 MPV. Described as a “Versatile Lifestyle Vehicle”, BAIC aims to get a foothold on MPV segment with the M20's multi-seat layout and cargo carrying capacity.

Compared to the MZ series vans, the M20 has a more sculpted design with its 2-bar grill, fender-wrapping headlights and flared wheel arches. At the back, the M20 features horizontal taillights and a tail-gate mounted spoiler. Rounding it all of is a set of 14-inch alloy wheels which come as standard on the Ultra Luxury variant. Size-wise, the MPV measures 4,440mm long, 1,700mm wide and 1,783mm tall.

When it comes to seating, the M20 is available either as an 8-seater or 7-seater, depending on the model chosen. It gets fabric seats all around, 3-spoke urethane steering wheel, remote central locking, power windows and rear window defogger. High-tier models will even come with a touchscreen infotainment system that supports GPS, Bluetooth, SD card slot, multifunction steering wheel and micro USB.

Under the hood, the M20 is driven by a 1.5-liter inline-four that is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The powertrain churns out 116 PS along with 150 Nm of torque. The entry-level Comfort model gets rear leaf springs while the Ultra Luxury variant is fitted with a five-link spring system.

In terms of safety, anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distriubtion (EBD) and front airbags will be standard equipment on the Ultra Luxury model. Otherfeatures like: rear parking sensors, rear foglights, front and rear airconditioning, electric power steering and anti-theft device are available across all variants.
