Yesterday, we reported that the 2016 Ford GT has made an appearance in the Ford Philippines website. The supercar's appearance on the site begged the question: Will the Ford GT arrive in the ASEAN region, let alone the Philippines?
From then, we followed up on this development and we can now give you a definite answer.
Speaking exclusively to Autoindustriya, Joseph Ayllon, assistant vice president for communications for Ford Philippines, gave us a resounding yes. "We are confirming that the Ford GT will be offered in the Philippine market. Timing, pricing and other details will be disclosed closer to the launch." said Ayllon.
Looking at the special site for the 2016 GT, application details will be available by February. The all-new GT is powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 instead of its predecessor's supercharged V8. Exact figures have yet to be released but Ford sees "over 600 PS" for the newest GT.
Like a true supercar, the GT is crafted from exotic materials. The lightweight body is made of carbon fiber while aluminum structures minimize the weight of the high-strength subframes.
