Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has announced a tentative date for the launch of the all new Pajero, as well one of the new technologies to be found in the upcoming 4x4. The Pajero was last updated in 2006 and has been receiving minor cosmetic tweaks since then.
MMC said that the launch date for the 2016 Pajero will be in summer in Europe, which is around June to September. As previously reported, the all-new Pajero will be available as a plug-in hybrid and will borrow styling cues from the Concept GC-PHEV which was recently shown in the 2015 Chicago Auto Show.
For 2016, the all-new Pajero gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Mitsubishi calls their smartphone pairing system the Smartphone Link Display Audio (SDA) and will be the Pajero will be the first Mitsubishi model to come with SDA. MMC said that the feature will trickle down to other models expand the regions to where it will be available.
The all new SDA system allows users of Android smartphones or iPhones to connect to the in-car entertainment system via a USB cable. The smartphone details are then displayed on the screen and users interact with SDA with the touch screen. The system is designed to lessen driver distractions and prioritizing driving. Rather than using the smartphone while driving, SDA allows the driver, access navigation and other apps on their smartphone make and receive phone calls send and receive text messages and listen to music. MMC does however say that their system will only work with Android 5.0+ (Lollipop) or iOS8+ devices.
