2017 Honda Civic 1.0T revealed in China

Honda further downsizes the Civic Turbo with all-new three-cylinder motor

The all-new Civic is now available with an even smaller turbocharged powerplant after Dongfeng Honda recently launched the 2017 Civic 1.0T in China. Exclusively available only in the Chinese market, the new Civic variant gets a compact 1.0-liter three-cylinder Earth Dreams turbo motor that is available with either a manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The Civic 1.0T is available in two variants, the base model 180Turbo and the 220Turbo seen here painted in orange. Like the 1.5 Turbo RS, it gets the same exterior features like the LED headlights and 17-inch alloy wheels. However, the front grill gets a chrome finish instead of the usual black chrome from the 1.5 model.

On the other hand, the 180Turbo is fitted with projector halogen headlights along with smaller 16-inch wheels.

As for interior features, the smaller-engined Civic gets the same levels of equipment from the bigger-engined 1.5. It gets Honda's Navi infotainment touchscreen, multifunction steering wheel, semi-digital instrument panel, electronic parking brake, leather seats, Eco mode and automatic climate control as such.

As mentioned earlier, the Civic 1.0T is driven by a turbocharged Earth Dreams three-cylinder VTEC engine. It has twin cams, dual variable valve timing and benefits from direct injection. The motor puts out 123 PS at 5500 rpm along with 173 Nm of torque from 2000 – 4500 rpm.

0 – 100 km/h comes in at 11.3 seconds (11.6s with the manual) while top speed is rated at 200 km/h (205 km/h for the manual).

Other technologies present on the compact 1.0-liter turbo motor are: high-tumble intake port, sodium-filled exhaust valves, variable capacity oil pump and an auto idle stop system.
