Yes, the Type R dream will finally come true.

In a press release, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. has officially announced that they will be bringing in the Honda Civic Type R after its show-stopping debut at the Manila International Auto Show.

This will be the first time that the Civic Type R has ever come up for official sale in the Philippines. HCPI says the retail price of the car will be PhP 2,980,000, and will be available in Rallye Red and Championship White only.

The Civic Type R is the high performance variant of the Civic line since its inception in the mid-1990's with the EK9. Three more generations followed the original model, making the new Civic Type R the fifth generation overall.

The 2017 Honda Civic Type R is powered by a 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo engine, and makes 306 PS and 400 Newton meters of torque. The only transmission option is a 6-speed manual that features an automatic rev matching system for smoother downshifts. The Type R comes standard with a 3-Mode Drive Selector that can be set to Comfort, Sport, or +R.

The first three generations of the Civic Type R were produced in Japan. Just like the fourth generation CTR, the current model is made in Swindon in the United Kingdom, with the engine built in the United States. Like it's predecessors (except for the third generation) the new Type R is based on the hatchback.

Dealers have been instructed to start taking reservations for the car starting tomorrow, July 11. The run will be limited this year as local allocation will be set at 100 units.
