Lexus's V8-powered LC 500 grand tourer officially revealed

After being previewed for Lexus' esteemed clients last September 2016, Lexus Manila has officially revealed the LC 500 for the Philippine market. First realized in concept form as the LF-LC, the all-new luxury grand tourer serves as the brand's latest halo car that features a distinct exterior, a high-tech and cozy cabin and a powerful 5.0-liter V8.

"We have come a long way since the LC Preview we held in September last year, where we showcased the production model of the LC. Many were uncertain if a concept vehicle as arresting and dynamic as the LF-LC could be transformed into a production vehicle. But as always, Lexus delivers. Hence, before you today is the incarnation of Lexus’ commitment to brave design and imaginative technology: the All-New LC 500," said Mr. Satoru Suzuki, president of Toyota Motors Philippines.

Beginning with its design, the LC 500 remains faithful to the concept's design as it only bears minimal changes. Up front, the LC 500 gets the distinct spindle grill design that now comes with a new 3D mesh design. Flanking it are the eye-catching L-shaped LED daytime running lights (DLRs) and the similarly-shaped triple LED headlights.

Complementing the LC's aggressive front fascia is the sleek profile that combines a muscular design with long flowing character lines. Filling up the wheel wells are the overly-large 21-inch wheels. The front axle gets 245/40 tires while the rear gets 275/35 rubber. More L-shaped inspired touches can be seen at the rear, particularly the multi-layered taillights and well-defined lines.

"The LC is a testament of Takumi Craftsmanship. Every fine detail of the LC— from the size and angle of the steering wheel, the feel and positioning of paddle shifters, and the supple leather and Alcantara seating surface— is an ode to the world-renowned, detail-obsessed Takumi craftsmanship in its finish," said Mr. Ariel Arias, SVP for Marketing of Toyota Motor Philippines and Lexus brand champion.

In terms of size, the LC 500 measures 4770mm long, 1920mm wide and 1345mm tall. Also, it has a wheelbase measurement of 2870mm.

Inside, the LC 500 features a cockpit-inspired design that was made for a sporty and intuitive driving position. Lexus even stated that the driver's hip point was made to be as close as possible to the car's center of gravity to deliver a more communicative driving experience. The seats are wrapped in both leather and Alcantara while the interior itself comes with metal trim accents, wood grain and leather trim pieces.

Providing in-car entertainment is the Lexus Multimedia package which is comprised of a 10.3-inch display that benefits from faster software. Also present is a full-color TFT heads-up display that works in both day and night. A Mark Levinson 13-speaker audio system also comes as standard for the 2017 LC 500.

Other standard features present in the 2017 LC 500 are: 8-way power adjustable front seats with memory function, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated seats, navigation, drive mode select, cruise control, paddle shifters and an engine start-stop button.

The driving force of the 2017 LC 500 is a naturally-aspriated 5.0-liter V8 that benefits from 32 valves, twin-cams and Euro 6 emission compliance. The engine generates 477 PS at 7100 rpm 527 Nm of torque at 4800 rpm. It is then connected to a ten-speed automatic gearbox, a first ever in a luxury automobile according to Lexus. Developed by Aisin, it has heat-treated, lightweight aluminum gears and the most compact torque converter ever used on a Lexus that helps in improving efficiency.

Eleven exterior colors are available for the new LC 500 including a new hue called Naples Yellow which was shown last May 2017. There's even a new interior color called Ochre which evokes 'natural scenery' according to Lexus.
