Mitsubishi will be arriving at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show with a new limited trim model for the ASX (branded as the Outlander Sport outside Asia). Called the Limited Edition ASX, the long-running crossover gets a new appearance package which gives the car a striking look.
Based off the refreshed model that debuted during the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, the Limited Edition ASX gets blacked-out exterior add-ons. It gets unique 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Nexen tires, HID headlights, black mirror caps and an alloy fuel cap.
Inside, the Limited Edition is subtly spruced up courtesy of some red stitching, aluminum pedals and custom black fabric seats with heater function. The touchscreen infotainment has been updated as well and now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Mitsubishi did not say as to what engine powers the Limited Edition ASX but US models come with two engine options. There's the 2.0-liter 4B11 that produces 150 PS with 197 Nm of torque, and the bigger 2.4-liter 4B12 which churns out 170 PS with 226 Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual and an INVECS-III CVT are the only available transmission choices for the US-spec ASX.
“As the brand sales leader, Outlander Sport does an exemplary job of offering consumers unmatched value at an attractive price. We've now taken that approach one step further by integrating additional standard equipment and technology into the Limited Edition at a price point that is unprecedented within the broader CUV segment,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president and chief operating officer Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA).
The Limited Edition ASX will arrive at US dealerships by the end of the month and will be available through the end of the model year.
