Earlier this month, Nissan revealed the facelifted 2017 X-Trail. The update gave the X-Trail a refreshed front end, self-driving technology and an improved interior. In-house tuner Nismo however, has made the X-Trail sportier with their newly released Nismo Performance Package.
Despite the name, the Nismo package is purely cosmetic and does not feature mechanical improvements to the X-Trail. Like most Nismo packages, it also exclusive to Japan at the moment, though Nissan could release it in various regions over time.
Going through the Nismo package, the X-Trail is finished in white, as with most Nismo products. Most noticeable on the Nismo pack are the new front and rear diffusers, and side skirts which have been painted in the usual black and red finish to contrast the white body. The panels surrounding the grill now have a gloss black finish. Meanwhile, the rear is finished with a sporty looking twin-tip chrome exhaust. A new set of two-tone wheels complete the Nismo outfit.
Inside, the interior remains completely the same as standard. There are no sport seats, or pedals to match the sportier exterior look. At least those who opted to have the leather seats can still have a comfortable ride. As for power, the engine options still retain the same output for the 1.6-diesel (132 PS), 2.0-liter diesel (179 PS), and 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine (165 PS), respectively.
