2017 Toyota Aygo update gets new x-press, x-style variants

Toyota refreshes Aygo for 2017 with special edition models

Toyota will be greeting the New Year with two new special edition models of the Aygo for 2017. Called the x-press and x-style, both variants are fitted with a bespoke bodykit, along with other exterior add-ons for a sleeker, sportier look.

First up is the x-press Aygo which gets eye-catching red accents throughout its body. The bright hue can be seen on the custom front bumper, rear diffuser, side sills and on the roof. 15-inch gloss black alloy wheels are shod in the wheel wells, while the door handles and side mirror caps are body color painted. Speaking of colors, the x-press is available in four exterior finishes: Silver Splash, White Flash, Electro Gray and Bold Black.

Inside, the x-press gets blacked-out surrounds for the aircon vents, gear knob and black center console. As for features, an automatic climate control system comes as standard, as well as a digital instrument panel, touchscreen multimedia system and multifunction three-spoke steering wheel.

Next is the x-style which adopts a more sophisticated finish according to the automaker. The X-type front grill, front pillar extensions and rear diffuser are all finished in gray. This kind of finish will only be available when paired with the following exterior colors: Red Pop, White Flash, Bold Black, Deep Blue Buzz and Silver Splash.

If the x-style is specified with the Electro Gray finish, the grill, front pillar extensions and rear diffuser will be painted silver instead. Like the x-press, 15-inch gloss black alloy wheels are available, as well body color painted door handles and side mirror caps.

In-car features from the x-press also carry over to the x-style. These include the: automatic climate control, touchscreen multimedia system and the dusk-sensing headlights. Only available for the x-style, however, are the following: reverse camera, front fog lamps, Bluetooth, power-adjustable side mirrors, DAB radio, leather steering wheel, electric front windows, hill-start assist and LED daytime running lights (DRLs).

Both the x-style and x-press can be equipped with the optional Toyota Safety Sense package that gives the Aygo active safety features such as: pre-collision, autonomous emergency braking and lane departure alert.

In addition, both special Aygo models are powered by the familiar 1.0-liter three-cylinder VVT-i engine that produces 70 PS. Available transmissions are a 5-speed manual and an x-shift automatic transmission.
