Perhaps it was inevitable that BMW would soon be revealing the updated M2. After all, our spies have been sending us photos of the facelifted coupe for several months now. This time around, BMW unofficially revealed the revamped M2 when the Belgian iPad website displayed the coupe on the front page.
While the website has taken down the page, photos of the 2018 M2 have since made rounds in the internet. As far as changes go, these are subtle both inside and out. Starting with the exterior, one will need a keen eye to spot the slightly reshaped “angel eyes”. Now a bit more angular than the current model, the M2 will also be getting LED headlights as well. As for the front bumper, there are no noticeable changes.
On to its side, the look is carried over from the current M2, as well as the wheels. Only one change was made to the rear of the car. It gets a new LED pattern for its tail lights and the reverse light has been repositioned at the lower corner of the cluster. Other than that, the 2018 M2 keeps its trunk lip spoiler and quad-exhaust pipes. Not part of the leak was the interior photos, but it is possible that the cabin layout will remain the same save for a few cosmetic details.
This being a minor model update, expect the engine to be the same 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo mill. It produces 370 PS and 465 Nm of torque and shifts with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. For those wanting more power, BMW is also working on a lighter, more track oriented version dubbed the M2 CS.
