It looks like Ford Philippines plans on maintaining its foothold in the B-segment crossover scene. Aside from bringing in the all-new Expedition and the refreshed Mustang, the company also plans on releasing the 2018 EcoSport refresh some time this year.
First launched in the Philippines back in January 2014, the EcoSport will finally have its first major refresh since its arrival in the country four years ago. Compared to the outgoing model, the 2018 EcoSport gets a redesigned front fascia consisting of elongated headlights, a bigger front grill and more prominent foglights. The rear, on the other hand, gets a more subtle revision with the spare tire carrier, taillights and rear bumper only getting minor design changes.
As for the interior, the cabin gets a more cohesive finish thanks to minor updates done on the dashboard, center console and instrument panel. Replacing the old entertainment system is SYNC 3 which comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and navigation as standard. The new system can also manage the climate control system and other key in-car features.
Exact engine/s that will be available for the Philippine-spec EcoSport remains to be seen. In other markets, the 2018 EcoSport can come with three different engine options. These include the 1.5-liter Ti-VCT inline-four, a 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost and a four-cylinder 2.0-liter Duratec turbo-diesel. A manual gearbox is expected to be available still for the EcoSport. However, the six-speed dual-clutch Powershift will be replaced by a SelectShift automatic transmission. There is also no word if the 1.5-liter EcoBlue turbo-diesel engine from Europe will be offered for Asia-Pacific markets.
Expect the 2018 Ford EcoSport to make its official debut in the Philippines soon.
