Ford's next-generation flagship SUV is set to arrive in the country soon. Yes you read that right, the 2018 Ford Expedition is coming to the Philippines and it is set to make its official debut at this year's Manila International Auto Show.
Called the 'smartest, most capable and most adaptable Expedition' to date, the all-new model comes with cutting-edge technologies that make it safer, more powerful and more convenient than its predecessor.
For starters, the body and chassis has been made lighter and more durable thanks to extensive use of high-strength aluminum alloy and steel. With it, the 2018 Expedition is 136 kg lighter than the older model.
Inside, the Expedition can come with wireless charging for smartphones, as well as Wi-Fi hotspot capability that can support up to ten devices. Dual rear headrest entertainment screens can also be specified for added entertainment. In true Ford fashion, SYNC 3 comes as standard and comes with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and navigation.
At the heart of the 2018 Expedition is an uprated 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that is married to a ten-speed automatic tranmission. Standard models generate 375 PS along with 637 Nm of torque, 10 PS and 68 Nm more than its predecessor. However, higher-grade variants get extra horsepower with the V6 now rated at 400 PS and 651 Nm torque.
There is no word yet, however, as to what variant/s will be launched in the Philippines. Currently, the 2018 Expedition is available in XLT, Limited and Platinum versions. Moreover, all of the variants are available on the extended-length version called Expedition MAX.
The 2018 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) will take place at the World Trade Center in Pasay City from April 5 to April 8.
