2018 Ford GT '67 Heritage Edition celebrates Le Mans victory

Limited-run Ford GT '67 Heritage Edition revealed

Back in 1967, Ford won the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans with the GT40 Mk IV race car. Driving the car to victory were American drivers Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt who traded spots during the grueling race.

In celebrating the 50th anniversary of Ford's victory in the 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Blue Oval brand recently revealed a limited edition of the 2018 GT. Officially called the '67 Heritage Edition, the special edition supercar draws inspiration from the winning Le Mans race car and comes with a unique finish and exclusive features.

The '67 Heritage Edition will only come in one color, Race Red. The bright hue pays homage to Gurney and Foyt's GT40 racecar that won fifty years ago. Apart from that, the Heritage Edition GT will also come with white stripes, exposed carbon fiber package, and Frozen White No. 1 hood and door graphics.

It will also come with 20-inch one-piece forged aluminum wheels finished in silver satin clearcoat, red brake calipers and silver painted side mirror caps.

Inside the '67 Heritage Edition, the carbon fiber seats and steering wheel get leather upholstery with red accent stitching. Meawnhile, the seat belt webbing now comes in red and the paddle shifters are now finished in anodized gray. Completing the interior package are the satin dark appliques and exposed carbon fiber cabin trim pieces.

“The first Heritage edition car was a huge success, honoring our history with a modern interpretation of the Le Mans winner. Continuing with a 2018 Ford GT based on the winning GT40 Mark IV race car was simply something we needed to do,” said Garen Nicoghosian, exterior design manager for the Ford GT.

Still providing power to the all-new Ford GT is the 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6. Billed by the company as their most powerful EcoBoost engine to date, it cranks out 655 PS and 745 Nm of torque. It has a top speed of 347 km/h and only weighs in at 1,360 kg.

Ford did not say as to how many '67 Heritage Editions will be made but they did mention that it will only be available in limited quanitities for the 2018 model year.
