Isuzu gives the 2018 mu-X update more than a simple nip and tuck for the China market release. It also gets a revised interior, which and new 1.9-liter BluePower diesel engine.
On the outside, the Chinese-market 2018 Isuzu mu-X gets the same updates received by the ASEAN version which was launched in the Philippines in late September. It gets a reshaped front bumper with new Bi-LED headlights which incorporates the LED daytime running lights within the units. Complementing the new light signature is mildly redesigned grill with more creases at its corners. Towards the rear of the revamped Mu-X, it gets new lower bumper mouldings and new tail lights which now feature an LED strip.
The major update is inside the 2018 mu-X where it gets a overhauled dashboard and door panels. The revised interior gives the mu-X a significantly more premium and modern appeal. It gets LED cabin lighting, a new instrument cluster, climate control, gear selector and steering wheel.
The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system will support Apple CarPlay and Baidu's CarLife connectivity.
The overall shape is similar to that of the updated Chevrolet Trailblazer which it shares its platform with.
Under the hood will be Isuzu's 'BluePower' 1.9-liter RZ4E-TC diesel will replace the outgoing 2.5-liter base engine, it produces 150 PS and 340 Nm of torque. This is mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 3.0-liter 4JJ1-TCX engine meanwhile is rated at 177 PS and 430 Nm.
The BluePower 1.9-liter engines were also confirmed for Philippine market release recently, to meet stricter emission regulations come 2018.
