Jaguar XJ line also receives updates for 2018 model year
Jaguar updates their flagship XJ sedan for 2018 highlighted by the new range-topping XJR575 performance sedan. Apart from the more powerful XJR575, the updates to the 2018 XJ includes new technological features and interior design improvements.
Moving back to the headlining XJR575, power has been increased by 25 PS. The supercharged 5-liter V8 now puts out 575 PS and 700 Nm of torque, up from the 550 PS the XJR previously produced. It is then mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, also used on other XJ models. The bump in power enables the XJR575 to do a 0-100 km/h time of 4.4 seconds, and hit a top speed of 300 km/h.
Available only in short wheelbase body style, the XJR575 receives a full bodykit which includes new front and rear spoiler. In front, the XJR features a vented hood and new LED headlights with 'J-Blade' daytime running lights. Unlike the standard XJ, the XJR575 trim has been finished in black instead of chrome.
To match the performance look, XJR575 customers can choose between two new colors – Velocity Blue and Satin Corris Gray. New 20-inch wheels hide the large brake caliper and rotors. To further distinguish it from a standard XJ, '575' branding can be found throughout the interior.
Across the line, the updated XJ retains the basic interior design. However it now features a 10-inch infotainment system on the center console. As regards for safety, the XJ range now has forward traffic detection, which helps with forward visibility is restricted, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and driver condition monitoring, among other things.
