Lamborghini officially enters the premium high-performance SUV arena with their new Urus, the successor to the famed LM002 also known as the "Rambo Lambo". As with tradition, the Urus name comes from the Aurochs bull, a large, wild ancestor of domestic cattle.

The 2018 Lamborghini Urus is underpinned by VW Group's MLB platform which is also found in the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg. The design however, is distinct Lamborghini; chiseled, muscular with slim lights and a distinctly aggressive fascia.
The Urus measures at 5112 mm long, 2016 mm wide and 1638 mm tall with a 3003 mm wheelbase. Ground clearance is adjustable between 158 mm to 248 mm via air suspension.
Under the hood is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine rated at 658 PS @ 6000 rpm and a staggering 850 Nm of torque @ 2250 rpm mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission transferring all the performance to an all-wheel drive system as standard. The integrated from differential is mated to a Torsen center differential and active torque vectoring rear differential. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h in 12.8 seconds and tops out at 305 km/h. It also benefits from the Aventador S derived rear-wheel steering to help handle all the power.
To stop this 2,200 kg raging bull are probably the "largest brakes in the world," featuring massive 17.3-inch carbon ceramic rotors for the front mated with 10-piston calipers. The Urus can decelerate from 100 km to 0 in 33.7 meters.
As with the well-chiseled exterior, the Urus features angular elements all throuout the interior. It will feature a digital instrument cluster. The familiar flat-bottom steering and red starter are carried over from its sports car brethren.
A central mounted shifter is flanked by mode selectors. Selectable driving modes are: Strada, Sport, Corsa, Sabbia (Sand), Terra (Off-Road), and Neve (Snow).
The infotainment system is equipped with Lamborghini Smartphone Interface (LSI) allowing fully integrated connection of iOS (Apple) and Android (Google) smartphones, supporting the Apple CarPlay TM, Android Auto (90% smartphone market coverage) and Baidu-Carlife (China) as standard.
A sound system featuring eight speakers, driven by four channels comes as standard. A high-end Bang & Olufsen Sound System with 3D sound and 1,700 watt output can be specified, with 21 fully active speakers
Its ergonomic cabin is replete with high quality materials including the finest leather, Alcantara, aluminum, carbon fiber and wood. The Urus seats four or five with its fine leather wrapped well-bolstered seats to keep occupants comfortably seated during spirited driving.
The Urus comes with 21-inch wheels as standard, but may be specced with either 22 or 23-inch wheels coupled with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.
Lamborghini will be producing the Urus in their Sant'Agata Bolognese facility in Italy with an initial rollout in early 2018. The bi-turbo V8 models will retail from $200,000 with plug-in hybrid versions expected to follow in 2019.
