Next-gen Mazda6 to be revealed at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show

The 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show is only a few weeks away and Mazda has something special in store for the motoring public. Set to make its world premiere soon is the all-new Mazda6 which gets a plethora of tech upgrades, as well as a sharper looking exterior.

Based on the teaser photo provided, the Mazda6 gets a redesigned front end that is dominated by more aggressive headlights and a revamped front grill. Also present is what appears to be a reshaped front bumper and lower air intake, and a new set of alloy wheels.

Moving over to the interior, Mazda gave the D-segment sedan a simpler, more cohesive dashboard design. With an emphasis on providing a clean and unobstructed view of the road, the 2018 Mazda6 gets reshaped central aircon vents, a new climate control system that sits lower than before and a slightly tweaked infotainment display.

Beyond that, an array of advanced safety features and amenities from i-ActiveSense will be available on the 2018 Mazda6. It will also have the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) which acts as the car's adaptive cruise control and a new 360-degree around-view monitor system.

Under the hood, two four-cylinder SkyActiv engines will be available for the 2018 Mazda6. First up is a 2.5-liter gasoline inline-four with direct injection. It benefits from cylinder-deactivation which allows it to seamlessly switch between four and two cylinder operation for better fuel economy. Exact output figures are yet to be revealed however.

Upping the ante is the more powerful 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four that derived from the CX-9. Like the naturally-aspirated four-cylinder, Mazda has yet to show the exact output ratings though the engine produces a healthy 230 PS and 420 Nm of torque in the CX-9.

The all-new Mazda6 will be shown in the metal from December 1 – 10 at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show.
