Mercedes-AMG recently unveiled its new performance sedan, the 2018 E63 ahead of its global debut at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show on November 16.
The manufacturer claimed that transforming the most intelligent sedan into the most powerful E-Class of all time with the next generation of the E63 and E63 S was a great leap forward.
"The new E63 models represent the biggest step forward we've ever taken from one generation to the next. At the start of the development process, we opted for a fully variable all-wheel drive system which, when combined with the advanced performance of the 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine, reaffirms our brand's 'Driving Performance' claim," said Tobias Moers, chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
The 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 sports an expressive exterior design with its new radiator grille and coupe-style inset hood that underlines the performance pedigree of the car. The new radiator grille along with the twin louvers finished in silver chrome, vertical black struts and "AMG" lettering give the sedan a distinctive look.
Meanwhile, the interior features a sporty look with its performance sport steering wheel in black leather bezel with the AMG logo, aluminum trim elements with unique pattern, Touch Control, and electroplated shift paddles. It also gets a distinct seat upholstery layout that is available in three finishes, black nappa leather, nut brown nappa leather or macchiato nappa leather. The AMG Performance seats with integral head restraints, on the other hand, can be ordered as an option.
The new sedan is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine that produces an output of 611 PS and 850 Nm, making it the most powerful engine installed in an E- Class to date. With 0 to 97 kph acceleration of just 3.3 seconds in the E63 S, the manufacturer claimed that the new sedan is at the top of its class. Another highlight is the completely new AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system.
Lastly, it features four different AMG Dynamic Select programs: Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus, and Individual. The 'Comfort' is the well-balanced drive program with a comfort-oriented suspension and steering set-up, as well as a fuel-efficient powertrain configuration and early upshifts.
'Sport' and 'Sport Plus' drive programs are designed for high vehicle dynamics. The 'Race' drive program, on the other hand, is for highly dynamic driving on closed race circuits.
The new performance sedan of Mercedes-AMG is expected to arrive in US markets by 2017.
