Small hatchback joins MG lineup

British brand, Morris Garages (MG) took the wraps off its latest small car, the MG3. The new hatchback was unveiled to at the Greenbelt 5’s Fashion Walk in Makati. Like MG’s other models, the MG3, promised to offer premium equipment at competitive prices.

The MG3 marks its arrival its distinct styling and two tone color scheme. Almond-shaped headlights are fitted on the minimalist front façade, with LED daytime running lamps positioned on the corners. Two tone alloy wheels are fitted as standard. Higher on the body, the windshield features blacked-out pillars to further highlight its floating roof look, available in either black or white. Behind, tail lights stretch all the way to the roof. The rear hatch has been rounded out to offer more room.

Inside, the MG3 features a straightforward interior design. Brushed aluminum accents on the steering wheel, aircon vents and stereo contrast against the dashboard. The dials and stereo illuminate with a red glow.

The driver will find features large, easy-to-read dials integrating a digital odometer, and fuel gauge. He or she will find a comfortable fabric seat with 6-way manual adjustment.

Behind, the rear bench offers seating for three. It has a 60:40 split fold function to allow for more cargo. The rear cargo area features a top tray while keeping the spare out of sight with a bottom tray. An emergency road side reflector, fitted as standard, is stowed on the side.

Powering the MG3 is a 1.5-liter VTI Tech engine that produces 106 PS and 135 NM of torque. The engine is Euro-V emissions standard compliant. It’s paired with a five speed manual that drives the front wheels.

Keeping it aloft over bumps are MacPherson struts in front and a torsion bar in the rear. They ride on 16 inch wheels brought to a stop by a disc in front and a drum behind.

The MG3 is also well equipped with accessories. Each car comes with an electric sunroof, solar reducing windscreen, rear spoiler, ABS and EBD, speed sensitive door locks and front and side airbags as standard.

The MG3 is now available for Php777,777. The company also offers various financing plans upon request. Finally, MG also offers a unique-in-its-class pickup and delivery preventive maintenance service.

The MG showroom is located at 241 EDSA Greenhills in Mandaluyong. A Cebu dealer will be opening soon.
