Nissan's S package for Urvan Premium gets interior ambiance boost

The upscale, upmarket van market is as aggressive as ever with automakers coming up with ways to spice up the family shuttle. Among them is Nissan with the Urvan Premium and, for 2018, it gets a major interior ambiance boost with the new S variant. As expected, it gets a host of upgrades inside, along with a more comprehensive infotainment and entertainment package.

From the outside, there is little differentiating it from the standard Urvan Premium models. The large, high-roof van was recently updated and the only notable difference between the S and the standard model are a set of 15-inch alloy wheels unique to this variant. For comparison, the non-S Urvan Premium vans make do with 15-inch steel rims with a wheel cover.

So while the wheels are the only identifying marks of the Urvan Premium S, it's on the inside where most of the work has been done. For starters, the seating configuration has totally been changed. Gone is the 14-seat layout and in its place are captain's chairs for the second and third-row passengers. The fourth row retains the bench seat with individual backrests for four passengers. These individual seats come with adjustable armrests, along with slide, recline and rotate functions. All seats, including the ones in front, are trimmed in leather in the Urvan Premium S.

Besides the new seat trimmings and configuration, the Urvan Premium S boasts overhead storage above the third and fourth row seats. Instead of the standard interior light, this specific variant a much larger 'room style' lamp powered by LEDs. Ambient lighting gives the cabin a warm glow while the premium carpeting wraps up the updates to the cabin.

Entertainment comes courtesy of a seven-inch touchscreen unit, getting rid of the double DIN unit in the regular Urvan Premium. The system has the ability to play DVD, MP3 and USB files with the benefit of Bluetooth phone connectivity. This touchscreen also comes with a built-in navigation system as well.

Rear passengers are then treated to two 10.1-inch monitors mounted on the front seat's headrests. Sound is then channeled via an upgraded speaker system. Lastly, all Urvan Premium S vans come with a dashcam and reverse sensors.

To avail of the S package, it is an additional Php 400,000 to Php 450,000 on top of the Urvan Premium manual or automatic. The Nissan Urvan Premium S was developed in cooperation with Atoy Body Kits.
